Bite was exceptionally slow tonight. However lady luck was smiling on me and bestowed me a giant prawn that the owner usually showcase in their tank. The giant prawn really tested my rod and 6lb line to the maximum when it made multiple attempts to escape.I was shocked to see the size when it surfaced and it indeed made alot of people envy due to the slow bite rate. Hehehe =)

Almost half a kilogram.

Comparison with the usual big prawn.

Tips on Handling Prawns

1. To catch them, you must stand and crouch like tiger and phoenix.

2. After all the catching has been done, pull your holding net to show off.

3. Pour your prawns into a pail, add water and salt to drown them.

4. After 5-10 mins, you can go ahead and skewer the prawns. Hopefully most are drowned in the saltwater.

5.  Leave out the bigger prawns to skewer at the last. Enjoy your moments with them.

6. Skewered prawns ready to go for a last rinse under the tap.

7.  Last picture shoot before the prawns go for tanning.

8. Finished product to be savoured to the very last.

Wanted to try my luck today and see if I can get some great prizes for the tagged prawns… Stopped at 2 hours with 36 prawns on one rod… 3 lucky dips with 2 really soft, soft toys and free 1 hour prawn fishing. BBQ prawns yet again!

Prawn fishing again at the ever crowded Geylang Prawn Fishing pond. Michelle and I were very lucky to catch 7 prawns with tagging which allow us to have a try at the lucky dip. Fred joined us at a later stage and failed to recognise one of his prawns were tagged as well which he was not entitled to the luck dip.

We managed to win

1. 2 x 3 hr free prawn fishing
2. 1 hr free prawn fishing
3. $5 food voucher
4. 2 x $2 food voucher
5. Last but not least a handphone strap
6. 63 prawns to conclude it

Raining non stop . . .

It has been raining the whole day and did not stop till 11pm at night. Fred and I have to cancel fishing and went prawn fishing instead. Weather was cold and the prawns were not very co-operative. I have to resort using live worms from chicken liver to hook those picky fellows. Results improved and I managed to land one big prawn that broke the house rod.

2nd time to this nice and clean prawning location.  Staffs were friendly and helpful.  Fred and his friends joined me and Michelle for a 3 hour session. We had good fun landing prawns after prawns. We decided to BBQ the prawns for supper and the chilli given by the management went so well with the prawns!

Sticking the stix into the prawns. Ouch.

BBQ them softly on the electric grill

Yum Yum

Reached the Punggol prawning pond at about 1.30 a.m. Quite crowded but did not noticed anyone landing prawns. We decided to go for the kill instead. I broke my own record again! I landed my first prawn in less than 20 seconds and this actually stunned the Malay couple beside me! What an expression! However the prawns are not biting actively at all after that. We could see the prawns but they are not abit interested. Wind was blowing cold and hard which caused Michelle to hibernate at one corner. I managed to caught the biggest prawn of the night which was a consolation but we only bagged 18 prawns after 3 hours of prawning. It was really boring. Yawnz…

9 inch prawn from tail to claws.
